Privacy

The short version: we keep your email address so we can tell you when desks open, and we do nothing else with it.

What we collect

If you type your email address into the box on this site, we store three things: the address itself, a note that it came from the coming-soon page, and the date you sent it. That is the whole record.

We do not ask for your name, your phone number, or anything else, and there is nothing else on this page to fill in.

Why we have it

To send you one or two emails when The Beach Off 111 opens, and nothing more. If you would rather hear nothing, see below and we will take you off.

Who can see it

Mike, and Rendered HQ LLC, which builds and runs this site for him. Nobody else.

We do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or hand it to an advertiser. The list lives in a database we run ourselves — it has not been uploaded to a mailing service.

Counting visits

We count page views ourselves, on our own server, so we know whether anyone is finding this page. No analytics company is involved and nothing is loaded into your browser to do it.

To tell one visit from ten, we take your IP address and browser name, mix them with a random number that changes every day, and store the result of that as a short code. The address itself is never written down, the code cannot be turned back into it, and because the random number changes daily the same person is a different code tomorrow. We can count how many people came. We cannot follow anyone.

We also record which site sent you here, if any, and only the site name — facebook.com, google.com — never the page you came from.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies, and nothing is loaded into your browser to watch you: no analytics script, no advertising pixel, no third-party code of any kind. The counting described above happens on our own server, not in your browser.

Like any web server, ours keeps ordinary request logs, which can include your IP address. They are used to keep the site up and to stop abuse, and for nothing else.

What your browser remembers

If you press the sun or moon in the corner to choose light or dark, your browser remembers that choice for thirty days, so the page does not fight you on your next visit.

It is kept in your own browser and never sent to us — we could not tell you which theme you picked if you asked. It says nothing about who you are, and clearing your browsing data removes it. If you never press it, nothing is stored at all and the page simply follows whatever your device is already set to.

That is the only thing this site keeps in your browser. It is not a cookie, and it is not used to recognise you.

Getting removed

Email mike@hometownres.org and say so. We will delete the row and you will hear nothing further. No form, no reason required, no follow-up asking you to reconsider.

Every email we send will also carry an unsubscribe link and a mailing address.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.

If this changes

We will change this page and the date on it. The practice and the page move together.
